On Wednesday, Nigeria premier League side, MFM FC defeated Rivers United 2-1 at the Agege Stadium in Lagos to maintain its 100 percent start to the season.
High-flying newcomers MFM FC added Rivers United to their casualty list after their match-day one win at Nasarawa United. Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Sikiru Olatunbosun scored for MFM before Frederick Obomate reduced the deficit.
MFM FC top the NPFL standings with six points but have a better goal difference than Lobi, who also have six points from two matches.
Warri Wolves put aside their troubles to stun four-time champions Kano Pillars 1-0. Kevin Itoya scored the winner in added time as the Warri club move into fourth place with four points.
However, Enugu Rangers were made to work for a victory over Plateau United when Kim John scored inside the opening 10 minutes and then got injured.
Second-half goals from Togaba Komlan, Nnamdi Anyasodo and Chisom Egbuchulam put Plateau United to the sword as the Flying Antelopes won 3-1.
At the scenic Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, Niger Tornadoes and Giwa FC shared the points. David Sunday’s second- half goal made sure Giwa FC got a point off Tornadoes after Lukman Mohammed had scored for them.
