Premier League champions Chelsea are expected to confirm the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s manager for next season within the next ten days, according to Sky Sports.
Conte is currently the manager of the Italian national team, though his contract expires after the Azzurri’s participation in Euro 2016 this summer. He is reported to be ready to return to club management however and has held talks with Blues’ officials on a number of occasions in recent weeks.
Former Juventus boss Conte is set to sign a three-year contract with Chelsea, moving to Stamford Bridge in time for the start of 2016/17 pre season. It was reported earlier on Tuesday that Chelsea are to pay the 46-year-old £4.75m a year as further talks were held in London between representatives of the club and the manager.
He is set to replace Guus Hiddink in charge of last season’s champions, as Hiddink initially signed a deal taking him up to the end of the current campaign when he stepped in for Jose Mourinho in December.
Chelsea have suffered with in a difficult campaign so far, and they currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League ahead of the weekend’s match with Southampton.
