Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta has reportedly “turned down a lucrative offer” to leave the Camp Nou and continue his playing career in China.
According to Football Espana, the midfielder’s agent, Ramon Sostres, confirmed that representatives from China—the club is unknown—have been in touch with him to “attempt to lure the 32-year-old to the Far East.”
However, Iniesta reportedly rejected the approach and told Sostres he aims to stay at Barca in the buildup to the 2018 World Cup, while a Mundo Deportivo source (via Football Espana) outlined the Spaniard’s continuing value to the Blaugrana: “Iniesta is an icon and is not moving from here. He has a contract until 2018 and there is nothing to talk about with any club.”
Chinese Super League clubs have flexed their muscles in the transfer market recently, luring a number of star players away from Europe’s top leagues.
